A Memoir of EASTON Launching in Malaysia

Happiness comes when we really put many people with smile in their faces for what we’ve done. This feeling just pour in when we saw that many of our Malaysian friends look satisfied, moreover, we sweep out of by several testimonies and credits from media about our recent Launching of EASTON Malaysia in Conjuction With SORE From Indonesia at 7th of July 2011. Those sweet things that also encourage us to write this simple memoir.

The Venue at Bentley Music Auditorium in the edge of Kuala Lumpur “acted” as our witness of the “Malaysian Cult People” smiles at that crowded night. We who brought SORE to enliven EASTON’s launching in Malaysia got really appreciated from the public. Even SORE is from Indonesia, the issue have been spread out in Malaysia a month before the concert begin. Sosial media such as Facebook also became a megaphone for Malaysian people to encourage them to find out about this band that awarded by The TIME MAGAZINE as “One of Five Asian Albums Worth Buying”.

Before SORE performs, Malaysian people were entertained by their local band, TILU, and Couples with mindfully performances.

And it’s show time! After EASTON in Malaysia agenda has been officially opened, with dynamic lighting, Ade Paloh, Ramondo Gascaro, Bembi gusti Pramudya, Reza Dwiputranto and Awan Garnida from SORE, perform their repertoire with Vrijeman and rockin’ the people. The scream from their first song just beaten again with another huge hysterically scream when Somos Libres played by SORE with EASTON outfit on their bodies.

Slow but sure, just like SORE’s music, the emotion of the crowded spectators also formed. SORE is not just genius in maneuvering tones, but also attractive in building the chemistry with their spectators. Especially, some nice interaction and jokes from the doublers vocalist-bassist, Awan Garnida. Malaysian people also laughing and amusing when Awan Garnida throw a joke in Indonesian language.

Just about two hours, SORE which in Indonesian means "Petang" had successfully entertain Malaysian people with their familiar song list such as Mata Berdebu, Bogor Biru, Merintih Perih, Setengah Lima, and more. Even this is their first live performance after one year absence, the intimacy of their concert just emerge naturally. For your information, their last live performance was when they opened indie pop band, Belle & Sebastian in Jakarta.

SORE, a band which bring jazz music with two albums Centralismo (2005) and Ports of Lima (2008), close their performance in Kuala Lumpur with their best song, No Fruits For Today with enthusiastic responses at that night. Yeah, SORE had given a deep-amazing impression for Malaysian public that night.

SORE which successfully blends the Complexity in Simplicity concept in their music, and often fill in film soundtrack, is one of the reasons why we take them. Just like our concept, which is simple but complex, SORE had their own special inscription for us, especially EASTON Malaysia.
